Access Adriatic is a private concierge for the Split to Hvar coast. We find the house, shortlist two or three that fit your dates and headcount, you book it with the villa’s own booking office at its published rate, and we arrange the week around it.
Hvar and Korčula photograph alike and sit about an hour and twenty minutes of fast boat apart, with nothing quick between either and Split. Every figure below comes from ferry pages, island tourist board pages and villa lists read in September 2026, and none of it is a quote for your dates. We can find you a house on either island, but the boats, the chefs and the drivers we arrange run Split to Hvar, so a week we put together end to end means Hvar.
Hvar or Korčula: what is the short answer for your trip?
| The week you are planning | The answer | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Boat days from the door | Hvar town | Fifty minutes from Split, the Pakleni fifteen minutes off |
| Small children who walk into the sea | Korčula, at Lumbarda | The sand this coast is short of |
| An old town to walk after dinner | Korčula town | Herringbone streets, UNESCO’s tentative list |
| Wine, a hire car and nowhere to be | Korčula’s west | Čara and Vela Luka are a long way out |
| One big night | Hvar town | The only late evening on either island |
| A week arranged end to end | Hvar | Our boat days, chefs and drivers run Split to Hvar |
Read the row that matches your week, not the photograph. If two rows disagree, obey the arrivals.
How do you reach each, and what does the crossing cost the week?
Hours rather than fares, paid on every day you leave the house.
| Route | What the page gives | Car or foot |
|---|---|---|
| Split to Hvar town, Jadrolinija 641 | 50 minutes to an hour | Foot only |
| Split to Stari Grad, Hvar, Jadrolinija 635 | 120 minutes, up to seven a day in summer | Car ferry |
| Split, Hvar, Korčula, Krilo | 2h 30min from Split, and 2h 20min on its Dubrovnik route | Foot only |
| Split, Hvar, Korčula, TP Line 661 and 654 | Times in a downloadable schedule, not on the page | Foot only |
| Orebić to Dominče, Korčula | 20 minutes, 22 sailings a day in high season | Car ferry |
Krilo’s page also puts 3h 30min from Split in its heading, so take two and a half hours as the good version and plan for nearer three.
Every fast boat to either island takes foot passengers only. Hvar answers with the 120 minute ferry to Stari Grad, Korčula by road: the Pelješac Bridge opened on 26 July 2022, 2,404 metres of it, and rerouted the coast road over the bridge instead of through the Neum corridor, leaving the twenty minute Orebić to Dominče ferry as the last leg.
So plan Korčula from the Pelješac side and Hvar from Split, and count thirty to forty minutes from Split airport to the berths first.
Which island has the houses?
Hvar concentrates and Korčula scatters.
On the Hvar lists published in September 2026, one had twenty one of its twenty four houses in Hvar town or on the slope above it, and another put nine near Hvar town, five around Jelsa and three near Stari Grad. Village by village, where to stay on Hvar.
Korčula reads thinner and wider. One luxury list’s Korčula page showed twenty three houses in September 2026, most at or around Korčula town, with singles at Čara, Blato, Prižba and Vela Luka. A more general list showed three that day, all three bedroom with a pool. Read those as a shape rather than a count: the choice is real but small, and sits either beside the town or a long drive from it.
Minimum stays match at five to seven nights from June to September. On price we give only the coast we cover: most five bedroom houses with a private pool on the Split to Hvar coast run between about EUR 950 and EUR 1,450 a night in high summer, from what a villa week in Croatia costs to rent. We have no verified Korčula rate with a month attached, so we print none.
So for eight or more in August, start the search on Hvar.
Which has the water and the days out?
Hvar for the days out, Korčula for the swimming nearest your gate.
Hvar town sits about fifteen minutes off the Pakleni Islands by taxi boat. The south side at Sveta Nedjelja, Ivan Dolac and Zavala has the cliffs and the light, through a one lane tunnel at Pitve where traffic takes turns.
Korčula answers with its own archipelago. Vrnik, an islet off the eastern coast, has centuries old quarries, Badija, a forested island in the Pelješac Channel, has a Franciscan monastery and wild deer, and smaller islets and reefs lie between them. Lumbarda at the eastern tip is where the sand is: Pržina faces south, is sheltered from the northern winds and stays shallow, and Bilin žal and Tatinja are sandy too.
The islands are about an hour and twenty apart on the larger, faster boats, nearly three hours of engine time in a day, which is the far edge in how far is too far.
So plan Korčula’s water around a hire car, and Hvar’s around the quay you sleep nearest, which for the Pakleni means private boat tours from Hvar.
Which suits families, which a quiet week, and which a big night?
Korčula for sand, Hvar for the night, either for quiet if you will drive.
Lumbarda’s tourist board says it has some of the best sandy beaches in Dalmatia and is among the most popular holiday spots for families with small children on the Adriatic coast. Hvar’s answer is Jelsa, where Grebišće, 1.5 kilometres from town, is a sandy bottomed bay that stays knee deep for fifty metres and the streets are flat.
For a big night there is no second place. Hvar town is the only settlement on either island with late bars as a matter of course. Korčula town’s evening is a different animal: a herringbone street plan that catches the air and breaks the wind, a cathedral mixing Gothic and Renaissance, a place on UNESCO’s tentative list, and a sword dance running from 29 April to 14 October in 2026.
Quiet is Korčula’s if you have a car: Račišće is a fishing village twelve kilometres west of the town, and the wine village of Čara twenty five kilometres away.
So put small children on Korčula’s sand or Hvar’s north shore, and put the late night on Hvar.
What can we arrange on each?
On Hvar, the whole week: boat days from the quay nearest the house, the private chef and the drivers. Split to Hvar is the water and the road we work every week, which is what villa concierge Hvar is built on.
On Korčula we find the house and stop there. We shortlist two or three that fit your dates and headcount, each with the total for your nights and what sits on top, and you book with the villa’s own booking office at its published rate. We will not pretend we can hand you the week around it. The boats, the chefs and the drivers we arrange run Split to Hvar, so on Korčula the days are yours to arrange once you are there.
So if you want the house found and the week handed over, that is Hvar. If you want only the house, Korčula is open.
What should you send us?
Dates or the month, how many nights, how many people and how many bedrooms, whether the island is settled, whether a pool, sea access or walking home from dinner is the thing you will not give up, and the budget.
We come back with two or three houses that fit, each with the total for your nights. You book the house with the villa’s own booking office at its published rate, and on Hvar we arrange the boat days, the chef and the drivers around it.
Request Villa Options on find a villa. If Korčula is out, Hvar or Brač for a villa week comes next, and where to rent a villa in Croatia came before.
